Jigsaw Puzzle Stool—Creative Furniture

The Jigsaw Puzzle Stool has come to liven up your day. This smart idea allows you use the stools as either individual seating, or assemble several to make them a table. I love ideas like this that allow you to customize your living space. You could have four working together to make a table, and if too many guests come over, break down the table into stools for everyone to sit on.

It’s made of sustainably produced, plantation-grown sheesham wood. It’s the most important cultivated timber of India and Pakistan. It’s a very strong wood that has a very nice smell to it, too. So not only are you buying a very creative product, but you’re also helping a troubled area and getting a high-quality stool in the process.

The Jigsaw Puzzle Stool is made by Viva Terra. I did a long search throughout the website and didn’t find it listed there anymore. I’m thinking they’re out of stock. But if you’re really interested, email them, see if you can arrange something. Tell them I sent you.

Good Idea: Original Nintendo Coffee Table

The NES coffee table is a dream come true. Apparently some dude named Matt (check out his Flickr) built this beauty with his skillful gamer hands. But it’s not just some chunk of wood as it might initially appear. The lid actually opens! It freaking opens!

What’s funny is, he built an NES controller, too! It clicks and shit when you press the buttons, just like the original! The huge controller is stored inside the compartment. What did you expect? To put some books in there?

Now, I’m going to tell you some more features of the NES coffee table but you have to promise to keep your pants on. Those controller ports, you see them? Well, they’re actually power outlets to which electronic stuff like a laptop or your hairdryer can be plugged in!

Awesome idea.

Bad Idea: Living in the Smallest House in the World

It’s 100 square feet. To put that into perspective, that’s roughly the size of a single-car garage. But this man is a very happy home owner, and as he’ll have you believe, it’s the way you should be living, too.

You wouldn’t believe this, but it even has a fireplace. It’s tiny, with tiny flames and tiny heat, but hey, it’s a tiny house. The living room magically becomes the living room the moment he pulls out a folding table.  It’s tiny, but he claims that with tiny plates, he can sit more than one.

His kitchen it quite cute. It’s got a little sink, and a tiny stove. Where does he keep the fridge, you ask? Underneath the sink he opens a compartment where a tiny fridge and a tiny oven hide. The fridge doesn’t seem to be able to hold a six-pack of beers, so I don’t know how this guy can live happily.

He’s particularly happy about his bathroom. It’s kind of a good idea. It’s a bathroom that becomes the shower. When he needs to clean up, he slides a couple of plastic doors around him and it becomes a contained space. The showerhead is above the bathroom, kind of where you’d find the light at your own bathroom.

Surprise, this house is two stories! The top floor houses his bedroom. It’s got nice ventilation, believe it or not. He’s got a big bed, too, which he claims, with a rather mischievous face, that it accommodates two.

Why would anybody live in such a tiny house? Well, he says, if you don’t like vacuuming, it’s the only way to live. Pfff…

Good Idiea: Pay-to-Sit Bench with Spikes. In crowded parks, benches are a luxury and should go to the highest bidder. This idea shows off an interesting concept where the bench has spikes to prevent well-rested individuals from hogging the seats from those with weak ankles. Watch the video.
